“The leader who does not communicate is doomed to failure!”
Mauro Moraes
There is no leadership without assertive communication.
The leader of excellence needs to develop the ability of public speaking if he wants to transform groups of people into high performance teams. I'm not just referring to presentations to large groups, good communication is also essential in small meetings and especially when you are face to face with your team member, making it clear what you expect from them.
The leader must be able to share knowledge and ideas to convey a sense of urgency and enthusiasm to others. If a leader can't get a message across clearly and motivate others to act on it, then it doesn't even matter to have a message.
“Educators take something simple and complicate it. Communicators take something complicated and simplify it!”
John C. Maxwell
Here I share nine strategies for the leader to improve their communication:
1- Planning. Organize your ideas and set a specific goal
2- Simplify your message. No impressing people with difficult words and complex sentences. If you want to reach them, make your message simple.
3- Consistency. Align what you want to convey with your posture and tone of voice
4- Present the truth. There are two ways to gain credibility with the public. First, believe what you say. Simple people become extraordinary communicators when stimulated by conviction. Second, practice what you say. There is no greater credibility than conviction in action.
5- Don't roll. Be direct and concise, people don't want to waste time
6- Knowledge. The more you master the subject you want to convey, the better the communication will be, as you will be more confident and natural.
7- Rehearse. The more you practice, the better prepared you will be.
8- Watch people. Effective communicators focus on the people they are communicating with.
9- Look for an answer. When communicating, never forget that the purpose of communication is action. If you download too much information about people, you're not communicating. Every time you talk to people, give them something to feel, something to remember, and something to do.
“IN COMMUNICATION, PEOPLE GIVE MORE CREDIBILITY TO WHAT THEY SEE, THEN THE TONE OF VOICE AND LAST THE WORDS THEY ARE HEARING”
Silvia Patriani
